On February 17th, a Delta II rocket made an mind-blowing history as it lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, carrying the five satellites of NASA's THEMIS (Time, History of Events and as well as Macro scale Interactions in Sub storms) satellite constellation. It marked in the first time NASA has orbited as many satellites in just one launch. The goal of the THEMIS mission is to find what triggers magnetic sub storms, that could sometimes cause power grids and satellites to fail; it is this occurrence, which makes the colorful Aurora Borealis observed in the night sky.

The flight of Space Shuttle Atlantis to the International Space Station on assignment STS-117 has been under attack for March 15, a day previous than initially planned.
On the next space shuttle flight to carry on constructing the space station, the Atlantis group would install a new truss segment, take back a set of solar arrays and open out a new set on the starboard side of the station. Lessons learned from two earlier missions would offer the astronauts with new tips and tools to perform their duties.
