China revs space race


Since China ablaze a rocket into space last month and damaged its own aging weather satellite, there has been much chat about the leftovers now clouding the atmosphere. It is feared that bits of debris can unclear or damage U.S. military satellites used for observation, weapons guidance systems and communications.That's troublesome enough.


Then there's the "other" anxiety - that China is mission a military buildup with space as the after that frontier. The Pentagon has known for some time that China is storing up on fighter aircrafts, submarines and ballistic missiles. But a 2005 Pentagon report points to those Chinese military capabilities were limited to nearby Asia.
