Space shuttle ready for August launch

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida - NASA stirred space shuttle Atlantis from its hangar on Monday to the huge Kennedy Space Centre congregation building where it would be attached to a fuel tank and twin booster rockets in training for launch next month.

Liftoff of Atlantis and six astronauts is marked for August 27 or 28. The flight marks NASA's go back to assembly of the International Space Station following the 2003 Columbia accident.

Sister ship Discovery returned last week from a victorious mission to display the fleets altered fuel tank design and to mend a station transporter needed for future construction.
